When you walk into “La Cité du Vin,” you feel like you’ve traveled back in time to an era when wine was really great. Its displays and beautiful environment helped us see how the building combines modern design with traditions that are hundreds of years old.

When we arrived there, we were not disappointed. La Cité du Vin was more than a museum; it was a truly unique experience.

The artistic La Cité du Vin combines historical and modern exhibits to provide an interesting way to experience wine culture.

Architecture

La Cité du Vin is a beautiful piece of architecture that is worth the story. This landmark was designed in such a way that it would resemble an image of wine swirling in a glass. It’s a beautiful work of art with a striking geometric shape and a bright golden exterior. Its unique shape causes the light to shift throughout the day, making the building appear as if it is moving.

It’s not too much of a stretch to say that the wine culture at this place is very rich and active. This amazing building shows how passionate people in Bordeaux are about wine and new ideas.

Travel Tips & Practical Information

Plan your journey

Plan your trip ahead of time to get the most out of your trip. We got there early in the morning, when there were only a few people there, so we were free to move around. We also saved time as we bought our tickets ahead of time and didn’t have to wait in long lines.

Check details about entry tickets

The entry fee is approximately 22 euros, which includes access to the wine tasting sessions at the Belvedere as well as the engaging exhibits on display. Discounts are available to students, the elderly, and youngsters, so it is advisable to check the relevant information on the website before your visit.

Take the audio guides

Audio guides may improve your experience by providing additional information on the intriguing history of winemaking, and they are easily available in multiple languages.

Use public transport

Although adequate parking spots were available, we found that using the city’s public transportation system was much more convenient, particularly when going to La Cité du Vin.
